Attitudes are contagious, is yours worth catching?
Did you know that attitudes really are contagious? It only takes one negative person in a room to make for a bad day at the office.  The way you respond to an situation can set the tone for the rest of your day. I am convinced that life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent how I react to it.

I'm a firm believer that a big part of being successful in my home business is by always keeping a positive attitude.  Negativity gets you know where in a hurry. If you hit a wall or things seem to have slowed then take on a new perspective and you'll find that you have more options than you think.  That's when you'll find that your business will grow! Your attitude is a big part of that.  Be aware of your environment and protect your attitude by learning 7 rules for keeping you positive!   Take a few minutes to watch this inspiring video full of wonderful quotes that I love by "Simple Truths" and learn what the 7 rules are for keeping you positive!

Thanksgiving Craft! Toilet Paper Roll Turkey

Thanksgiving Craft!
Toilet Paper Roll Turkey

In celebration of Thanksgiving, I wanted to do something fun for the kids. They wanted to make a turkey and I always have plenty of toilet paper rolls laying around so we made a these cute Toilet Paper Roll Turkeys. Give it a try! It's so super fun and easy to make and the kids will be proud to put them on display!
Tips/Idea:Save up some of your toilet paper rolls and take them to your Thanksgiving Dinner for a kids craft afterwards and you'll be the favorite Aunt!

Supplies:

Toilet paper roll                    Scissors
craft glue                               Construction paper or paper stock
Crayons/markers                    Brown craft paint

Instructions:

CoLoR/DrAw/CuT/PaStE!
First, color your toilet roll brown so it can dry while you trace, color, and cut!

Next, draw your turkey parts for your kid(s) to color.
~Draw 6-7 feather shapes per Turkey. I like to draw one feather that I like and use it to trace the others.
~Draw a round circle for the head. You can do this with a small kids cup.
~Draw two smaller circles for the eyes
~Draw two feet
~Draw a peanut shape for the waddle
~Fold a piece of paper in half and draw a beak on the creased line so that when you cut it out it will open like a mouth.

Once you've drawn/traced all your pieces, let your child color them in and then help them cut them out if needed.

Next, Paste! I like to squirt some glue onto a piece of paper or a paper plate and use a Q-tip to rub some glue onto the pieces.
~Glue the feathers together in a fan-out position.
~Take your feather fan and glue onto the upper back of your toilet paper roll.  You can use a hot glue gun if you'd rather. Your feather should be above your roll.
~Now glue the eyes onto the head and glue the waddle onto the lower bottom of the face so that half of it is hanging below the circle.
~Glue one side of the beak below the eyes but over the top of your waddle.
~Now that your face is done, glue it to the top of the roll so that only half of the head is touching it.
~Finally the legs! Fold down a small piece of the top of each leg to put a bend to it. Then glue them onto the roll high enough that your roll can stand straight. Ta Da!

10 Things To Know About The New Facebook

article from: http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/story/2011-09-26/10-things-to-know-about-new-facebook/50553854/1

1. The Ticker isn't actually revealing any new information. It is, though, showing users a lot of information they probably wouldn't have otherwise bothered to look for.

In it, you'll see any activity from your friends that you're allowed by them to see (and always have been). If a friend is commenting on another friend's wall (even one that you're not connected to) and that wall is set to be publicly viewable, you'll see that post in your Ticker.

2. Every post you make on a public fan page will show up in all of your friends' Tickers. Because fan pages are public by default, this information will be accessible to anyone.

3. Check a post's security level before commenting. There is a small icon under each item in your news feed. Hover over that to see who can see the post.

The globe icon means the update is public and viewable by anyone on the Web. There is also an icon for updates viewable only to friends and to custom lists of people.

4. Be extra mindful when commenting on a public post. Any comment you leave on a status update will be sent to the Tickers of every person on your friend list.

All posts from fan pages are public.

5. Your own activity won't show up in your real-time Ticker. This can make it a bit hard to troubleshoot exactly which parts of your activity are being published.

Facebook must be assuming that you already know what activity you're performing and don't need to see it.

6. Facebook says Timeline will be available in a few weeks, but you can enable it now. I used these instructions from Mashable to start mine up.

7. Once you've enabled Timeline, you'll have some time to clean it up if you'd like. Even those of us who have always been very careful about what we post on Facebook will be surprised by some content on our Timeline.

Any post on the Timeline can be hidden from view, deleted from Facebook or changed to be viewable to just some of your friends.

Once you've cleaned it up, you can then choose to publish your Timeline so that it's viewable to other Facebook users.

8. With its new class of apps, Facebook is looking for "frictionless" experiences. This means that you'll see fewer dialog boxes asking if you'd like to publish a certain kind of activity to your newsfeed.

When you first set up an app, such as music streaming service Spotify, it will ask for your permission to access your information and let you set that behavior to public or friends-only. You can also define a more specific list of friends to have access to that information.

But then you won't be asked again. It will become much easier to forget which apps are broadcasting your activity. After Spotify is given permission, each song you listen to (even the occasional embarrassing one) will be broadcast to Facebook.

9. Subscribers are people who sign up to receive your public posts in their news feed. If you've enabled this, anyone who adds you as a friend will automatically first become a subscriber. If you confirm the friend request, the person will be elevated to "friend." If you turn down the friend request by clicking "Not now," that person will still remain subscribed to your public posts.

10. When you defriend someone, they will still be subscribed to your public posts. If you want to defriend someone and prevent them from seeing what you post, you'll have to also block them.

How Many Chemicals Are In Your Home???

Have you ever really stopped to think about what really surrounds you in your own environment? I've always considered myself to be environmentally aware by recycling, not being a "litter bug", keeping things energy efficient, turning off the water while I brush my teeth, keeping lights off, and all those little things.
Yet, when I decided to start my own home business this year with Melaleuca, a 25 year old Wellness Company, I became more conscious about the chemicals that are in all of my household cleaning products so I switch my stores. Then I started hearing stories from other moms who where able to improve their overall health for themselves and their families by eliminating the caustic-chemicals found in their homes. I became more aware of what many moms, who are already dealing with their own children's health issues, are doing about it. What I've come to realize, is that many have completely eliminated the chemicals in their homes and found safer natural cleaners to use instead. Did you know that if you gathered up all of the household cleaners in your home and stuck them out on the curb, chances are your garbage collector would refuse to take them? Why you ask? This would be due to the fact that the chemicals are too harsh on the landfills and hurts the environment. Yet.......we use them in our homes on a daily basis and continuously around our families. That just doesn't make good sense to me. Think about that the next time you're scrubbing down you bathroom and find your throat tickling and making you cough. That's not natural.
I thought to myself, how crazy is this! Why? Why as a society are we not more socially aware of the damage we are doing to ourselves and our families? Why haven't we been convinced to change our ways? Perhaps because we figure the government will eventually recognize and resolve our concerns. Maybe someone like Oprah, will have enough public influence over us to start some sort of a pandemic for change? I think it more simple than that though. What if we all as individuals looked towards ourselves for the answers? Shouldn't we all feel some sort of obligation to improve the environment around us? How did we get to this point anyways?
Wanting to know some history on how we got to this point, I did a little searching, including some reading in a book called "A Legacy of Wellness" by Melaleuca. What I learned is that since WWII there has been a dramatic rise in the amount of man-made chemicals that we use in our homes. Why? I believe the answer is because these man-made chemicals have proven to be a quick and cost effective way for companies to manufacture and get out onto our grocery store shelves. They don't want to take the time and energy require to come up with something better. Time is money right? At least that's what I learn in business school.

"The typical homes now contains over sixty-three hazardous products that together contain hundreds of different chemicals."[1] What?! Now back up and read that again and think about what that means. What do you think? How about that fact that at the same time these products have rapidly entered our homes "there has been an equally dramatic rise in the incidence of certain chronic health problems." [2] Hmmm... interesting I thought, but at the same time that's just down right scary to me as a mom of 4 young kids.
Here's some more facts for you. Today in the U.S. one in three women and one in two men will suffer with cancer some time in their lives. Back in the early 20th Century the cancer rate was only about one in fifty. According to the American Cancer Society, " cancer is the number two killer of adults and the leading cause of death from disease in children."[3]
So if the increase of health issues have been on the rise since we started using hazardous chemical products in our homes then wouldn't it make sense to eliminate them? I think that as a society, many of us are so busy raising families, having careers, on the go that we put our blinders up and run the maze in whatever direction we are pointed to go that gets us to our goals faster. We let these big companies inundate us with advertisements telling us what we should buy, how fantastic their products are, how convenient they are and so on and so forth.
I have to say overall my family has been pretty fortunate health wise. My mom always told me growing up that "we were made of the good stuff". Yet, when Alzheimer's disease decided to sneak in and slowly rob away my Grandma's life I watched (in slow motion like the disease) what it did to my family. I had to watch my family suffer and was angry and hurt that we couldn't bring her back from it or conquer this pestilent demeaning little disease. Yet, you know what? I've come to realized what we can do about it. We can each start by take the small steps to improve our overall health and give our bodies and our environment a fighting chance against the things that we may or are dealing with.
Why not start today and make one change that would be better for your family? Perhaps that's to get rid of the hazardous household chemicals,to eat healthier foods or maybe to start recycling if you haven't yet. Whatever it is, I just encourage each and every one of you to try and make a change to a better way of living. It doesn't have to be huge, just start small. We all have to start somewhere. I hope you found my article to be interesting and informative. Thanks so much for reading :0)

Reasons Why Getting Facebook Fans Is So Important

I'm always devoting myself to learning more about how to use social marketing to promote my business. One of the newest things I've been trying to understand is how to improve my SEO or Social Engineering Optimization. I've know that getting people to like my Facebook fan page was suppose to help promote my business, but I wanted to know how it helped exactly. Everybody is focused on getting fans, which is good, but I really didn't know why I needed fans and how many fans should I need. Just 25 likes or what? So I went in search of more information by roaming the Marketing Professionals group on LinkedIn.com which is like the "tuxedo" of social media.
Some of what I learned is that a Facebook profile is only part of the journey to Facebook success for business success. I've learned that you can seriously look into how to setup and manage fan pages, including different ways to drive traffic there. There are many pros out there doing well with Facebook, but ther are actually a vast majority of people who aren't. So to help with that, you need to remember the basics! Have a plan in place, and don't think of traffic or efforts as a one-time event. So here are a simple tips I wanted to share for those are still learning and trying to understand what Facebook can do to help promote your business.
1. SOCIAL CREDIBILITY
If people come to your page, and many others have liked the page before them. They have a reason to do the same. It's social proof. Testimonials and validation is key. People are real. You can see if your friend is a friend too.
2. FREE STATUS MESSAGES
When you post a message, it goes across the network of friends-and those impressions are free.
3. VIRAL MARKETING
People that get excited to share things on their own accord, and with their messages, URLs and pictures, can be very compelling from both a Facebook and user experience. Things can move very fast!
I think those are great tips to keep in mind. Eventually, when you are ready, you can even pay a little to promote your page more, but you can still promote your page for free. I think the key here is just to be consistent. However, I would encourage you to keep in mind that when you are posting your messages you don't want to spam your friends. Keep it real. The rule of thumb is to keep it 1/3 Personal, 1/3 Informative, and 1/3 Business. Stay positive and don't post negative comments, share something of value with your friends, and mix in a little business too. Nobody wants to here "join me, join me, join me" all the time. You're trying to build relationships and KEEP your friends!
